How to study when you’re sleepy

how to study when you're sleepy by findingperles.com

Is it just me? I feel sleepy every time I take the books. And that happens even after I’ve taken a pretty long nap. Am I really that tired? Probably not, I’m sure I would be fine to watch three episodes of black list without a blank. I’ve tried almost every thing from taking a nap, the five-minute technique, having a snack, washing my face, drinking tea; well to make it short I’ve tried almost every thing people told me. Nothing worked. I was just not motivated. And for some reason my body choose to slowly shut down. Weird. But luckily I’ve found a technique that works for me. And I want to share it with you guys who might be dealing with the same issue.

How to study when you're sleepy

First, prepare and clean your study space, gather all the material you’ll need, settle down and start studying. Read, watch lectures…. It doesn’t really matter what you’re working on, you just need to start. Study until you start to feel sleepy, usually happens after 30 minutes. If you don’t feel sleepy then that’s perfect. But once you do feel sleepy get up and start walking. Walk actively around a table, up and down the stairs, or outside if possible. This will increase the blood flow and boost your energy level. And you will also be too tired to even fall asleep. After 5 to 10 minutes of active walking get some water and get back to work. Repeat if necessary.

This is what has been working for me, and I’ve been using this method for the past two semesters. I have to say that sometimes you just need to take the day off and do what ever please you, because if you’re just not in the mood to study, your study session won’t be productive. But if that’s not the case then do try it, and let me know what happens.

I’m glad I could share this technique with you. If you have any other tricks that keep you from falling asleep please share it with me, I’d love to try it.
