In the summer all I can visualize is watermelon, because watermelons are my favorite fruits. Its easy to associate summer with watermelons when you live in the Caribbean, you literally see them everywhere and they are very affordable in that particular time of the year. Watermelons are very high in water content so if you’re like me and don’t really enjoy drinking just plain water they’re a great alternative to stay hydrated on these summer days. Growing up my grandmother use to make this all the time to cool down on extra hot summer days.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- 1 watermelon
- 2 cups of ice cubes
- 1 passion fruit
- 1 tsp. of brown sugar
DIRECTIONS
- Cut the watermelon into small chunks to put in a large bowl. While doing so, try to remove the seeds as you’re cutting. (Use seedless watermelons if you have access to them)
- Strain the passion fruit in order to separate the seeds from the juice, and pour the juice into the bowl with the watermelon chunks. **Tip: add the tsp of sugar to the meat of the passion fruit to make it easier to strain.
- Add the ice and serve.
And there you have it, the easiest summer cooler with watermelon and passion fruit.
